Chapter Eleven

Bailey sat at the bar, drinking a drink and looking around. She didn’t like that Olivia was with someone else, but what was she supposed to do.

She couldn’t compete. Olivia was the type who needed someone who was already there and waiting for her. But then, Bailey noticed a familiar presence slide in next to her.

“There you are. I was wondering where you went,” she heard the voice say.

She whipped her head around, expecting Olivia to be with that chick she was talking to, but it was just her.

“Oh. Hey there Olivia,” Bailey said.

“Listen, can we talk? I wanted to speak with you about this,” Olivia said.

Bailey shrugged. She had no idea if she was ready to talk or not. But it looked like Olivia wasn’t going to leave her alone until she did so.

“Yes, just not here,” Bailey insisted. She didn’t want to come off as a gross, sobbing mess in front of the bartender.

“Course not. How does going down to the beach sound” Olivia offered.

Bailey shrugged. It was better than nothing. She followed Olivia out of there and as they walked down to the beach, they sipped their drinks. The hotel was fine with you taking drinks to the beach so long as it was theirs. They sat down near the water, sipping their drinks in silence.

“Why did you run off? And where did you go to?” Olivia stated.

Bailey tensed. She didn’t know if Olivia was upset with her or not.

“I’m sorry Olivia. I just thought you didn’t like me like that. I thought you didn’t see anything in me,” Bailey admitted.

Olivia let out a laugh.

“Wow, you read the room all wrong,” Olivia said.

“I ran back to the hotel. I sat in my room for a bit. I thought about possibly getting a car and driving off, but I was too weak for that. I began to realize that I needed to face my fears though, so I went down there and waited. I asked the front desk if you were here and they said no, so I figured I’d bide my time,” Bailey explained.

“Seems like you did want to see me after all then?” Olivia said.

“In a sense, yes. And I’m sorry for running away. When I saw you with her, I had flashbacks to everything. To of course, losing my boyfriend. He actually called me before I went down to see you in fact,” Bailey admitted.

It was Olivia’s time to show discomfort.

“What did he say?” she inquired.

“Oh nothing. He just wanted to ask for me back, and I told him I wasn’t interested in that. I’m not. I’m hopelessly stuck on you, if that makes sense,” Bailey admitted.

Olivia laughed slightly.

“I guess the feeling is mutual then,” she said.

Olivia turned to her and held her hand, holding it there.

“I’m not asking you to be my girlfriend or anything Bailey. But I do want to be with you. That woman there tried to ask me out. I knew her for a long time. We used to work together until I expanded my clothing designs.
